As a big fan of Japanese (pop) Culture I love going to all sorts of events related to this. One of the biggest events in Europe about Japanese culture is the Japan Tag in Düsseldorf. This is a yearly event that attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all over Europe to this one city.
Throughout Düsseldorf there are dozens of activities, workshops, markets, and eateries where you can get to know Japanese culture and try out new things. Also, as a cosplayer it’s a chance to wear a costume out and about and have fun with friends.
It has been on my to-do list to visit the Japan Tag for a couple of years now but for some reason I never quite got around to it. This year however we finally made plans to go and we went through with them.
Together with my boyfriend and another friend we got into our car and drove to Germany. Once in Düsseldorf it wasn’t hard to spot where to go, we could just follow the crowds to where the main events took place.
We got extremely lucky with the weather as it was a very bright and clear day with temperatures that were perhaps a bit too high to comfortably walk around with a wig but I’ll take it over rain any day!
To be honest I was a little dissapointed in the activities and variety of them but I may just be very spoiled from all the conventions and other events I’ve already been too. But we definitely had fun and took advantage of the great weather by drinking some great German beer whilst sitting in the sun!
Overal we had a great day and I’m glad I went. And not just because I can tick this of my list now 😉
